What do I do if my camera won't connect?
How to fix a HarvestEye camera not found (red icon) issue on your tablet
Camera Troubleshooting Guide – HarvestEye Tablet
If your camera isn’t connecting to the HarvestEye system (red camera icon showing on the tablet), please check through the following steps to identify the root cause.
Step 1: Visual Inspection
-
Carefully inspect the full system for any visible physical damage, such as:
-
Damaged or frayed wires.
-
Loose or broken connectors.
-
Cracked housings or bent pins.
-
⚠️ If you find any physical damage, stop troubleshooting and contact the HarvestEye team to arrange a replacement part:

Step 2: Check Core Connections
-
USB-C Hub (inside the cab)
-
Ensure all cables are securely plugged into the USB-C hub.
-
Confirm the USB-C from the hub is securely plugged into the tablet (see picture).
-
-
Camera Cable → Lindy Cable
-
Confirm the blue female USB (camera cable) is firmly connected to the male USB (Lindy cable) inside the rectangular 3D printed box (see picture).
-
-
-
Look for the green indicator light on the blue female USB:
-
Solid green → Connection powered correctly.
-
Flashing/off → Possible power issue.
-
-
Step 3: Power Supply Check
-
Confirm both power sources are connected correctly:
-
#1 Lindy USB-A Repeater Cable into the USB-A hub, hub connected to tablet.
-
#2 Tablet power supplied via the 5V–12V step-up/down converter into the tablet.
-
-
With tablet powered on, check the Lindy connection (blue converter 12V–5V):
-
Light OFF or flashing green → Suspected Lindy power issue, recommend replacement.
-
Light solid green → Power supply working as expected.
-
Step 4: Test Direct Camera Connection
-
Disconnect the camera USB from the Lindy cable (gently lift the tab, do not pull hard).
-
Bring the tablet into the cab and connect the camera USB directly into the tablet.
-
Reboot the tablet via System Settings.
-
If the camera works → Power supply or Lindy issue.
-
If the camera does not work → Possible fault with the camera or camera connection.
Step 5: Inspect Camera Connection (Advanced)
If you have tools available:
-
Strip back the camera shroud to access the USB-C connection inside the camera.
-
Check if the plug is loose or damaged.
-
If loose/damaged → Recommend replacing/repairing the camera unit.
Step 6: Final Check – Tablet Reboot
After checking connections:
-
Reboot the tablet.
-
Confirm whether the camera icon turns green on the top left of the main menu screen.
