Can HarvestEye calculate the total yield of a field?
No, because the system will not see 100% of the crop
The On-Harvester system will not capture 100% of the crop. This is due to factors such as crop stacking, physical obstructions that block the camera’s view (for example bars, mud, or stones), and the practical limits of the belt tracking algorithm.
Because it scans a high proportion of the crop from each field, the resulting dataset remains statistically robust and delivers reliable insights into percentage weight by band interval. When the user has a good estimate of the total crop from the field, they can use HarvestEye’s percentage weight data in the portal to calculate how many tonnes fall within any selected band range.
